Crossfit Training Routine!
In this workout we’re going to follow a Crossfit Style Workout Program. The focus of CrossFit is to implement all aspects of fitness into a single training regimen. The workouts will vary daily and focus on building strength, muscular endurance, cardiovascular conditioning, strength and power.
CrossFit training is used for many police academies and tactical operations teams, military special operations units, martial artists, and hundreds of other elite and professional athletes worldwide. Going through a CrossFit workout is almost like doing “Boot Camp” training in the military.
This is a quote taken directly from the CrossFit website…
“From the beginning, the aim of CrossFit has been to forge a broad, general, and inclusive fitness. We sought to build a program that would best prepare trainees for any physical contingency–prepare them not only for the unknown but for the unknowable. Looking at all sport and physical tasks collectively, we asked what physical skills and adaptations would most universally lend themselves to performance advantage. Capacity culled from the intersection of all sports demands would quite logically lend itself well to all sport. In sum, our specialty is not specializing.”
A typical CrossFit workout will consist of basic compound lifts, many of which are taken from Powerlifting, Olympic Weight Lifting, Kettlebell Training, etc. You won’t see bodybuilding style isolation exercises such as bicep curls, leg extensions, pec deck flys, side lateral raises, etc.
Most CrossFit workouts require training in a specialized CrossFit gym that has lots of barbells, bumper plates, kettlebells, pull up bars, gymnastics rings, ropes, weighted sleds, etc. But for this workout of the month program we’re going to perform a simplified CrossFit style workout routine that you can do at pretty much any gym.
WARNING: This workout is an advanced training program, you have to be able to perform bodyweight exercises such as push ups, pull ups, and box jumps. If you are new to working out and unable to perform these exercises, then DO NOT follow this workout. Follow one of the other beginner programs that are listed under the Training Plans section instead. |
