Arnold Schwarzenegger’s Workout!
This month we’re going to be kicking it old school with a high volume workout from the Austrian Oak himself – Arnold Schwarzenegger!
Arnold is without a doubt the world’s most famous bodybuilder, I’m sure you’ve heard his name at least once or twice…
Back in 1968 he moved to California and took the bodybuilding world by storm. Arnold was the big kid with muscles and a funny accent. But he went on to forge a muscular physique that took bodybuilding from a strange underworld sport, and made it popular to the mainstream public.
Over the next several weeks you’re going to step back in time and follow along in Arnold’s footsteps with one of his famous high volume muscle pumping workout programs. This particular workout was featured in the book:
The Encyclopedia of Modern Bodybuilding by Arnold Schwarzenegger.
This workout program is ideal for an intermediate to advanced level lifter. Someone who has experience with all the basic barbell lifts and has a good base level of fitness and conditioning should do well with this workout.
WARNING: This workout is an advanced program. If you are new to working out, then DO NOT follow this workout. Follow one of the other programs I have listed under the Training Plans section instead. |
The old time bodybuilders in Arnold’s era emphasized training with high volume workouts, 6 days per week, and training each major muscle group twice per week.
Day 1: Chest & Back
Day 2: Shoulders & Arms
Day 3: Legs
Day 4: Chest & Back
Day 5: Shoulders & Arms
Day 6: Legs
Day 7: Rest
While doing high volume workouts like this can aid with muscle growth, they are particularly effective for losing fat and getting defined. Performing all that training volume will burn a tremendous amount of calories making it easier to get into a caloric deficit for maximum fat loss.
So if you are dieting for for fat loss, this would be an ideal training routine to follow because it will help speed up your results.
